Dear Diary: When Your Trick Backfires :(

Dear Diary,

You know how I mentioned that Big Ol' Bossypants tried to bribe me last week with an orange squidgy thing? Well, I finally found out what the "surprise I might not like" was. A new girl. Since she arrived I didn't get as much attention as usual even though I'm totally the cutest. I know I'm 'a keeper' or whatever but I wanted things back to normal and I wanted them back to normal quick. Was that so wrong, Diary?

I may have told Little Val that our flat is haunted. I mentioned a white apparition that floats about wailing for pizza at meal times. I thought it might scare her into hiding or something and we'd have a bit of peace. I certainly didn't expect this at dinner time (we do breakfast, dinner, tea here. Northern style):

So I bricked it when I looked up from my chip butty and saw the apparition from my bullpoop story. I ran as fast as I could through the flat with the ghost hot on my heels. Suddenly I realised I'd inadvertently cornered myself when I turn around upon hearing chuckling and see this:

Yep, Little Val played me at my own game. Lesson learned... sort of. Anyway, after I got over my shock/anger I realised I could enact revenge or team up with Little Val: Evil Genius. Having spent a bit more time with Little Val: Evil Genius I'm not so sure of her 'Evil Genius' status but she's no fool. Definite friend material.

Stay sexy,
Parkin

The New Girl!

If you're a regular reader of my blog you may well be wondering who this little cutie is. She's new! Her name is Valentine and previously belonged to Hello Rach. I was lucky enough to be able to adopt her last week and I couldn't be more pleased.

Little Val is an EBL Hollywood custom by Christel/Small World Girl and has the most amazing lips! All her eye chips bar the pink have been replaced and they look wonderful on her. I honestly can't get enough of this girl. I think Parkin may be feeling a little put out but I'm sure I can fix that with some Re-Ment cake!

Rach also sent all these goodies along with Little Val. Can you even believe it?! It was such an amazingly generous thing to do and I thank her wholeheartedly.

I've no doubt Little Val will be a regular round these parts so keep your eyes peeled!

Flossie Revisits Her Roots!

Do you ever shun a piece of stock only to find that you quite like it after all months later? Yep, you're right, that happened to me only yesterday. Flossie is originally a Fruit Punch and I never had any inclination to use her stock at all until I came across it again t'other day. I thought I would just try it on her and would probably end up putting it back in "the bag of forgotten clothes" but she was really working it! I had no idea what to do with the tie things at the back but I figured something out and I reckon she looks pretty cool now. I'll have to have another rummage to see what other gems I've neglected!

Up Close & Personal

Mondays aren't generally considered the most exciting day of the week so here is a picture of Flossie looking her wonderful self, in the hope that it will put a smile on your face.

Here's to a great start to the week!

White Rabbits

When Flossie woke up this morning, after rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she remembered to say "white rabbits" three times for luck.

I can't believe it's August already! I had so many grand plans for this year and only now am I starting to achieve them. Better late than never though, as they say! This month I'm off to visit my mum by the seaside for a little bit. I am beyond excited about it and hope to take lots of pretty pics of Parkin on the beach and learn some new crochet stitches in between visiting my sister at the cute little shop she works in. I have to wait a little longer for all that fun though. I've noticed the closer it gets the more excruciating the wait is. I haven't had this feeling for a long time but it's quite nice in its own little way, as I'm sure you have all experienced this at some point :)

Have an excellent and lucky month everyone!

Ahoy There!

Flossie waving goodbye to those setting sail for Portland!

I'm going crazy for all the different BlytheCons planned this year! Whilst I am lucky enough to be attending BlytheCon UK in October there was no chance I'd be able to get to Portland for the US version. Step forward Virtual BlytheCon!

You may have noticed the little badge on my sidebar proudly proclaiming me to be a member of Virtual BlytheCon and wondered what it was about. Well, it is an event for all those unable to attend the Portland BlytheCon and takes place at exactly the same time online! It has been organised by the wonderful Wonderella and we even have our own online space for it to take place this Monday. Find out more information via our flickr group!

Hope to see you there!

Flossie and Her Mini Blythe

Flossie is totally in love with her mini Blythe doll and hasn't given her a moment's peace since she arrived. I was the same with Flossie once she was finished with her make-over so I guess I should just keep quiet!

I guess my dolls love dolls as much as I do! Here is Billie with her Lalaloopsy, if dolls with dolls is up your street.

Squiddly Dot's Pull Charms

Last week I posted 5 fun pull rings and thought it might be nice to show you Squiddly Dot's. I am a fan of the Twiggy Twiggy rings because they come in such great colours and are really well made. Several of my Blythe's sport some Twiggy Twiggy's. Squiddly is my only Blythe with pull charms despite the fact that I have quite a few of these Kid Robot zipper pulls but I do like to clip them to anything and everything! This one is by Aaron Meshon and is probably my most fave series.

I don't know why I felt this charm was so perfect for Squiddly Dot but it just is. What pull charms do your Blythe's have, if any?

Happy April Fools Day!

I know it's a bit late in the day but I wanted to wish everyone a happy April fools! Me and Squiddly Dot have had a fun time playing tricks and little ol' Squiddly even got all dressed up.

Now that the nights are getting brighter I've been feeling much more sunny and I'm looking forward to a fun packed April. I hope you all have a fun one too!

The 1000 Cranes for Japan Project

I saw this very touching project devised by Blythe collectors to show support for Japan and those affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami. Its goal is for doll collectors to combine their efforts to make one thousand paper cranes as according to Japanese legend this will make a wish come true. Strings of a thousand are left to the elements so that the wish will be released organically. It is a beautiful sentiment and this joint effort will hopefully show Japanese collectors that they are wished well.

I realise that to some it might seem very futile and perhaps even pointless but I think it is a great way to show support especially if you are lacking the funds to make a donation to the relief effort.

Lettice Armoire!

I'm having a bit of a panic on about the fact that I seem to be incapable of opening my etsy shop but I am determined that it will be very soon! Today, to spur me on I decided to take a picture of my beautiful Rouge Noir, Lettice wearing a little something I had made using my Dolly Dolly pattern books.

She has been pretty neglected lately but she photographs so beautifully and I knew it was time to show Lettice off on my blog when I made this bright red pleated skirt. I styled it with a sweet white blouse by Hilary Wagstaff and RDP's umbrella is a cute addition. Also, it looks like it's going to chuck it down here, so it's more than likely very necessary! She is also wearing gray and white stripey tights with white mary janes (not pictured).

Flossie Got a Tattoo!

So, you may remember that a couple of days ago Flossie blogged about a few of her favourite things. One of them was the picture above and since then she has become obsessed with getting a tattoo. I decided to live vicariously through my doll and inked her up myself.

Actually it's pencil but that's by the by. I love it! I hope it's lasts a while but I'm not really sure how to seal it. Oh well!
