White Rabbits

When Flossie woke up this morning, after rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she remembered to say "white rabbits" three times for luck.

I can't believe it's August already! I had so many grand plans for this year and only now am I starting to achieve them. Better late than never though, as they say! This month I'm off to visit my mum by the seaside for a little bit. I am beyond excited about it and hope to take lots of pretty pics of Parkin on the beach and learn some new crochet stitches in between visiting my sister at the cute little shop she works in. I have to wait a little longer for all that fun though. I've noticed the closer it gets the more excruciating the wait is. I haven't had this feeling for a long time but it's quite nice in its own little way, as I'm sure you have all experienced this at some point :)

Have an excellent and lucky month everyone!

Ahoy There!

Flossie waving goodbye to those setting sail for Portland!

I'm going crazy for all the different BlytheCons planned this year! Whilst I am lucky enough to be attending BlytheCon UK in October there was no chance I'd be able to get to Portland for the US version. Step forward Virtual BlytheCon!

You may have noticed the little badge on my sidebar proudly proclaiming me to be a member of Virtual BlytheCon and wondered what it was about. Well, it is an event for all those unable to attend the Portland BlytheCon and takes place at exactly the same time online! It has been organised by the wonderful Wonderella and we even have our own online space for it to take place this Monday. Find out more information via our flickr group!

Hope to see you there!

Flossie and Her Mini Blythe

Flossie is totally in love with her mini Blythe doll and hasn't given her a moment's peace since she arrived. I was the same with Flossie once she was finished with her make-over so I guess I should just keep quiet!

I guess my dolls love dolls as much as I do! Here is Billie with her Lalaloopsy, if dolls with dolls is up your street.

Bild Lilli Blythe!

So my computer broke just as I was getting into a blogging routine. Good one. I'm not quite sorted on that front but I have been able to borrow one to get my blogging fix!

Recently I have been wondering what to do with the pieces of a Blythe doll laying around my flat. I had customised them once before to create little Luna but I ended up just not being happy with her. The re-root I did was chuffing awful! I made the mistake of using a crochet hook and not making a new partline. A n00b double-whammy, I know!

Anyhow, I decided recently that I only enjoy doing re-roots and light modifications and not customising a doll fully because I was scared of MSC. I had decided to sell the disassembled Luna (who was originally an Adorable Aubrey) but thought she deserved another chance. She was pretty cute at one point and I'm determined she will be again!

So, this time I thought I would have a theme which would make it easier for me to work towards a finished doll. I mulled it over, ate some Turkish Delight and then inspiration hit! Never underestimate what a sugar rush can do for you. I would model her on the Bild Lilli dolls. I really love their look and after researching a little more about them I thought a Bild Lilli Blythe repro would be brilliant and a lot of fun to do!

I'm not sure how faithful I want to be, she may well turn out fantasy haired but I'm really pleased I finally have a starting point and I'm excited to work on her once again. All in all, a positive day so far!
