Ghoulia x Ghoulia: The Comparison!

As you know, I went to visit my mum in Cleethorpes a few weeks ago and what you may have guessed is that my Monster High collection expanded somewhat whilst I was there. It was brilliant to walk in to a shop and see them on the shelf as I like to pour over them comparing who is prettier like I did when I was a little girl. It makes me feel a little silly but who cares what other people think, right?

Anyway, my point is that I can only really find Monster High at Argos in London and in case you don't know, Argos puts all the Monster High dolls in each series under one order number so you can't choose who you are getting. You can do a customer view but you wouldn't believe the pain in the bum that is! It was an absolute delight to walk into shops and I somehow ended up with first wave Ghoulia Yhelps and Mad Science Lagoona Blue. Fantastic! I also had the SDCC Ghoulia waiting for me when I returned from my trip. I'm well and truly hooked now!

I'm going to stop rambling now as what I really wanted to show you was my Ghoulia comparison pics. I'm fairly sure their faces are slightly different shapes as the jaw line seems harsher on my SDCC version. Their lips seem a different shape too. SDCC Ghoulia also has completely different hands. I'm not just referring to the mould here, they seem a lot more realistic somehow. Owning Ghoulia twice over did feel a little excessive to me at first but having put them side by side I'm so glad I went for it. I think Ghoulia may have pipped Draculaura to the top spot in my list of favourite MH characters.

Ghoulia x Dead Fast

I doubt there are any Monster High fans out there who don't know about the San Diego Comic-Con version of Ghoulia Yelps but I only got mine t'other day so pics can't be avoided I'm afraid! First of all I want to say she is totally brilliant and I would definitely recommend getting her if you're a Monster High fan and can find her for a reasonable price. I found mine on Matty Collector for £18 which included shipping to the UK from America - ace!

As you can see she comes with quite a lot of stuff including a mini-figure of Dead Fast (my fave piece) who is her favourite Zombie super-hero and the basis for her amazing costume. The box is brilliant (but I forgot about taking pics of that, oops, sorry!) and has a bit of background info on Dead Fast and also contains a comic book. There are actually two comic books in the box, one for Ghoulia and the one I mentioned previously which is more human sized.

I love that there are two pairs of glasses included and all the other little details like the Nekro-Con lanyard, bag and metallic/transparent stand. Totally worth it for 18 quid! I am well and truly a Monster High fan now - there's no going back!

Monster High: Lagoona Blue Mad Science!

I have more Monster High! I am still really excited that I was able to get my hands on the Mad Science Classroom Lagoona and first wave Ghoulia last week. I haven't had much luck finding them in London (I know, right!? I'm clearly looking in the wrong places) but I'm hoping to track down Frankie Stein Home Ick because I regret passing her up now. Anyway, back to Lagoona!

She is absolutely stunning and such good value too. The amount of accessories she came with including two outfits is excellent but my favourite piece is probably the lab coat. Brilliant. I nearly bought the original Lagoona but was able to compare them in the shop and Mad Science Lagoona pipped it for me. Her face-up is beautiful and the pinkier lip colour really suits her. The plaits in her hair are perfect and I love her swooshy fringe. One thing I had not noticed in pictures (and I don't think my camera picks it up here) is her pearly skin. It is very subtle and adds that extra something not to mention her amazing translucent webbed hands and fins.

Sorry you can't see her full outfits in these pictures but I wanted to show you how pretty she is! Lagoona wears a blue mini dress under the lab coat with an anchor and bubble print and her second outfit is an asymmetric top with a wave pattern and a small bow at the bottom and a pair of teal cut-offs with black trim. The latter outfit is probably my favourite on her.

Her shoes are pretty nice and are painted a lot better than my Gloom Beach Frankie pair. I was a bit worried that the quality might have gone downhill on the Monster High dolls after I was pretty disappointed with my GB Frankie and her smudgey face with split legs (She's still beautiful though!) but I'm pleased to say that despite a bit of floppiness, Lagoona and her accessories are perfect.

Her locker has a working lock and it looks like they are stackable if you have multiples. The bottom has the MH letters debossed whereas the letters on the top are raised. I don't want to ramble on about the accessories in these pictures given how much I've rambled on above but I will say the three-eyed frog in the jar shedding a single tear is very cute!

Monster High Gloom Beach!

So I have been looking out for the Gloom Beach line of Monster High for what seems like forever as I wasn't prepared to pay the ridiculous prices that I've seen online for a mass produced playline doll. Argos got them in stock for £7.99 which seemed fair and they've been selling like hotcakes from the looks of it.

I picked up a Frankie Stein as I thought she looked awesome with the blue lips and I have to say I was a little disappointed when I took her out of the box. Her body is floppy and she has very obvious seams which my first wave Draculaura doesn't have. Her sandals have a horrendous paint job on top of that. I was all ready to be quietly disappointed with her and then I took some pictures!

She is beautiful to photograph and looks gorgeous in every shot. Honestly, this has taken all the disappointment away as I had a lot of fun. This is a great line from Mattel and if they just took a little more time on the finish it would be even more brilliant.
