Parkin got dressed in her red, white and blues to celebrate the Royal Wedding today and demanded I make her a tiara whilst she got busy colouring a flag to wave. I didn't much have her down as a Royalist as it goes but it turns out she got a kick out of the whole thing.

It sure is nice to see a big crowd of happy people having a great time together. Especially when that includes a fly by. Fly by's are pretty fun.

Introducing Clem

I am a complete Dear Lele Girl fan and was fortunate enough to be able to afford her when she was originally released. In case you're thinking that you've never seen Clem before either here or on my flickr, you would be right. I have found her so difficult to photograph! I tried once and gave up, pretty pathetic, right? She is truly a pretty doll though and so I decided to stop staring at her for once and to, erm, stare at her through a camera screen instead.

I am wondering how similar she is going to be to the upcoming Blythe release Phoebe Maybe (Dear Lele: translucent edition?) but I think they will most likely make a great pair.

In honour of Clem's great unveiling, haha, here are five totally brilliant facts about her:

Fact one: Clem only told me her name TODAY! She is a total enigma.

Fact two: She longs to be a sweet lolita. I may have to treat myself to some cute fabrics and pretty laces to make her dream come true.

Fact three: Don't be fooled by her cute exterior, she has a steely core. Even Parkin knows not to mess with her!

Fact four: Gummy Bears are her favourite sweets. She likes to bite their heads off.

Fact five: She is almost as obsessed with Re-Ment cleaning products as I am.

Also: I will have an update on Parkin's mystery romance later this week. Catch up here, here and here!

Teeny Tiny Tuesday

It's Teeny Tiny Tuesday again! This week it's the turn of my latest acquisition: set number two from the Re-Ment U.S. Mini Sweets series. According to the NRFB Queen website sets from this series are sized ever so slightly larger than the Japanese Re-Ment. This isn't so obvious with some of the items but the icing bag does seem pretty large.

I love the colours used in this set and the half-eaten cake is extremely cute. There are also painted cake cases on the full cupcakes which is a brilliant detail. I am also super excited to have a miniature cupcake tray in my collection as I love bake ware of all sizes. No matter how nondescript it is I still love it, heh heh! I have a mini cupcake tray in my real kitchen things cupboard and it is my pride and joy. Sad, I know but in my defence... I have no defence, who am I kidding!

I hope everyone had a great Easter and if you're in the U.K. the holiday's not over yet!

Dyeing a Wig for the First Time

So, last week I blogged about giving my Odeco the BLEACH dip-dye look and I got around to it this week...

I actually selected a Dylon hand-dye colour called Tropical Green and as you can see it hasn't taken especially well. I'm not sure if this is down to whatever has set the hair in its crimped style or simply because this dye isn't made for synthetic materials.

I used plenty of salt to set the dye and also added some vinegar as recommended by a member of BK. The vinegar did make it go weirdly frothy and smell awful though! It took a lot of dipping and washing to get this pale colour so next time I would definitely get hold of a dye suitable for synthetics to see if I can get a bolder colour. I had been considering ipoly but I have since read that acid dyes are much better for dying nylon, which is what I am intending to practice dying next.

Having said all that, this pale colour is really growing on me and makes me think of how a mermaid might style her hair, if in fact they existed! It's lovely and soft but I veer between "it looks pretty" to "it looks dirty".

If you have any tips for dyeing synthetic doll hair please leave them in the comments section - thanks in advance!

Teeny Tiny Tuesday: Romance Edition

I found this outside the front door this morning. A gift of Re-Ment cakes... it must be getting serious with this mysterious figure Parkin's being so cagey about!

I think I'm going to have to smoke out their identity somehow!

The cakes are from Have a Bite and come with the lovely box and also three crepes. There is another strawberry cream cake in the box. I really like the detailing on the cakes and the chocolate tops of the strawberry cakes are nicely glossy. There are some plastic rests for the crepes as if to display them in a bakery with price stickers, so if you are looking to build a set they might be pretty useful. Another versatile and lovely set by Re-Ment!

Hello Swanky

I know the Ribbonetta Wish stock is not considered all that and a Jammie Dodger but I have always loved it. This is especially true when Sukie is wearing it. She has been wearing this outfit for around a year I would say, no joke!

The shoes have stained her feet in this time which is a bit of a shame. Very Vicky's shoes are the same mould but feel much sturdier and don't have the tacky finish that RiWi's do, which always makes me feel like they might melt.

Anyhow, I hope you all had a great weekend and maybe got to go to a party or two. I was lucky enough to get to see Wicked with my sister which was hands down the best musical I have ever seen!

New Look for Odeco

One of the reasons I love my Odeco so much is how easy it is to change her look. I've had this wig for an age without using it as I originally intended to re-root it. I saw it laying all new and sad in its box (yes, I have an unhealthy habit of giving human traits to inanimate objects..) and decided to whip it out for an afternoon photo shoot. For an idea of what she looked like before, check out the Odeco makeover I did using Ringo back in January.

(image: BLEACH)

I'm now thinking about giving her the super-trendy BLEACH treatment with a nice bit of dip-dye. I reckon I'm going to give acid green a go and if it turns out rubbish, I'll deffo get my re-root on. Sounds dangerously like a plan!

p.s Please ignore Ringo's slightly lazy eye!

Teeny Tiny Tuesday

When I first saw this set from the Asian Sundries series I fell totally in love with the pot, ladle and bowl in particular. The pattern is so bright and bold and is printed typically well for Re-Ment. The lid just sits on top rather than fitting in place which is perhaps a giveaway for this being an older set.

The main thing that shows this set off as being quite old is that there are stickers over loads of the pieces! Totally gutted because I think it ruins the look of them in person. They don't look toooooo bad in the pics but you can see the outlines and the lumps above and below.

The plate in particular is pretty rubbish looking and the small bowl with the lid has lost a sticker as it was peeling off completely. The printing on the pieces in the first picture is lovely so I have no idea why they didn't just simplify the design on the rest of the pieces and print on them directly.

Overall I would say that if you can find the set for a good price it is totally worth it for the printed bits!

Curiouser and Curiouser

This is all getting very intriguing Parkin... I thought your pretty dress on Friday was a one off. It's certainly not like you... Does this change in appearance have anything to do with your mystery tea party guest, perchance? *wink wink*

Anyone we know?

To Be Continued...

Teeny Tiny Tuesday

It's super grotty weather here today but I didn't want to miss out on posting. As pathetic as it sounds I really look forward to Teeny Tiny Tuesday! I love picking something cute and tiny to focus in on. I've also found Re-Ment quite difficult to photograph at times and hopefully I'm getting better at it even on horrible rainy days!

Today I chose my macaroon cookies and cake stand along with a Re-Ment plate from another set that I have. I've been really rubbish at keeping all my Re-Ment pieces in their sets. However! - I do know that the macaroon cookie set comes with a sweet lemonade jug and candy coloured cups but I made the executive decision not to include them in the pic and focus on the cute macaroons instead.

Have a fun Re-Menty day! Oh, and if you were wondering this set is from Natalie's French Treats.

Honey, I Shrunk the Cute Stuff

I spend a fair amount of time on the internet fannying about and end up seeing lots of cute and lovely items. A lot of times I see things that I know particular dolls in my collection would love to own but they don't come in Blythe sizes... like this super cute Moomin make-up bag from Artbox. If only I had a shrink-ray to solve this non-problem.

Well now I do!

Pippin got first dibs on this cute Moomin make-up bag from Artbox fresh from its miniturisation. She may be dressing all girly cute lately but she can't escape from those bold bright colours totally even if it is just her make-up bag!

Happy April Fools Day!

I know it's a bit late in the day but I wanted to wish everyone a happy April fools! Me and Squiddly Dot have had a fun time playing tricks and little ol' Squiddly even got all dressed up.

Now that the nights are getting brighter I've been feeling much more sunny and I'm looking forward to a fun packed April. I hope you all have a fun one too!
