Just Because

It's the middle of the week and this is about the point where I start daring to think about the weekend. If I try and make any plans before that my brain shuts down. I'm not sure why I'm so rubbish at planning ahead but I guess that's just the way I'm made :)

Anyway, here is a pretty shot of Clem to keep me going and to hopefully put a smile on your face!

Teeny Tiny Tuesday: Hello Kitty Rice Cooker

This is probably the best set I've ever found in a blind box although I was actually hankering after the microwave thingy at the time! I really wish I could scale this up to human size and have it sitting on my Kitchen work top all day every day for the rest of my life. There is not one piece in this set that brings the others down or feels like it was just thrown in for no reason... although I don't know what is supposed to be in the Hello Kitty tub. The lid doesn't come off but it looks cute so what the hey, amiright? The rice cooker on the other hand has the look of being functional and clicks open and shut pretty satisfyingly. the rice mould also fits the plain rice Hello Kitty shape but has a stamp on the back which kind of ruins the effect. It looks better on the very cute plate instead - sorry I didn't take a pic of it on its own!

Ghoulia x Dead Fast

I doubt there are any Monster High fans out there who don't know about the San Diego Comic-Con version of Ghoulia Yelps but I only got mine t'other day so pics can't be avoided I'm afraid! First of all I want to say she is totally brilliant and I would definitely recommend getting her if you're a Monster High fan and can find her for a reasonable price. I found mine on Matty Collector for £18 which included shipping to the UK from America - ace!

As you can see she comes with quite a lot of stuff including a mini-figure of Dead Fast (my fave piece) who is her favourite Zombie super-hero and the basis for her amazing costume. The box is brilliant (but I forgot about taking pics of that, oops, sorry!) and has a bit of background info on Dead Fast and also contains a comic book. There are actually two comic books in the box, one for Ghoulia and the one I mentioned previously which is more human sized.

I love that there are two pairs of glasses included and all the other little details like the Nekro-Con lanyard, bag and metallic/transparent stand. Totally worth it for 18 quid! I am well and truly a Monster High fan now - there's no going back!

Dear Diary: Crochet Madness!

Dear Diary,

Recently I've noticed that Big Ol' Bossypants is pretty big on crochet. She has been practicing and practicing and I thought it looked pretty fun so I decided to give it a go myself. Big mistake!

When you're only twelve inches tall grappling with a crochet hook becomes virtually impossible. I felt like a ninja waving the hook around. A really rubbish ninja who failed ninja class. At least I had somewhere comfy to nap after all that effort tired me out.

Patent Shoes D.I.Y Idea!

I have always been a fan of patent shoes and in particular black patent Mary Janes so when I ordered these cuties from Jem Girl Creations over on Etsy I thought they would look even sweeter if I gave them that shiny patent look. All it took was a little bit of Citadel gloss and they had a subtle sheen. I couldn't be happier! Not that I wasn't happy in the first place I must add!

This was a really quick and fun D.I.Y. to do and thanks to Jem Girl my girls have the cutest shoes around. Must save up for more!

Teeny Tiny Tuesday: Storage Beauty Cupboard

It's teeny tiny cupboard time! This week I thought it would be nice to share one of my bigger Re-Ment pieces. This was another set I bought for my future kitchen set-up quite a while ago and hasn't been photographed at all. I really need to get a move on with that kitchen!

The cupboard is a pretty good size and has a 'glass' front you can vaguely see the contents through. This really tickles me for some reason. I quite like the lace pattern up the side but I don't think I'd have been too upset if it was plain as it would match any kitchen that way. The shelf is removable so you can store larger things if you want which is always a nice option to have. Thanks Re-Ment!

My favourite of the extras are the sugar cubes. They are so tiny and brilliant! You get two brown and two white sugar cubes with a cute acorn jar to store them in. I'm not sure what the brown stuff is supposed to be in the other jar. I feel a bit stupid admitting that but I would love to know what it's meant to be! The bowls are a nice inclusion but I think they would have been better plain too or perhaps Re-Ment could have just printed the pattern better. I know I seem a bit blasé about this set but I really can't wait to add this to my dream kitchen. It looks great in my head!

Monster High: Lagoona Blue Mad Science!

I have more Monster High! I am still really excited that I was able to get my hands on the Mad Science Classroom Lagoona and first wave Ghoulia last week. I haven't had much luck finding them in London (I know, right!? I'm clearly looking in the wrong places) but I'm hoping to track down Frankie Stein Home Ick because I regret passing her up now. Anyway, back to Lagoona!

She is absolutely stunning and such good value too. The amount of accessories she came with including two outfits is excellent but my favourite piece is probably the lab coat. Brilliant. I nearly bought the original Lagoona but was able to compare them in the shop and Mad Science Lagoona pipped it for me. Her face-up is beautiful and the pinkier lip colour really suits her. The plaits in her hair are perfect and I love her swooshy fringe. One thing I had not noticed in pictures (and I don't think my camera picks it up here) is her pearly skin. It is very subtle and adds that extra something not to mention her amazing translucent webbed hands and fins.

Sorry you can't see her full outfits in these pictures but I wanted to show you how pretty she is! Lagoona wears a blue mini dress under the lab coat with an anchor and bubble print and her second outfit is an asymmetric top with a wave pattern and a small bow at the bottom and a pair of teal cut-offs with black trim. The latter outfit is probably my favourite on her.

Her shoes are pretty nice and are painted a lot better than my Gloom Beach Frankie pair. I was a bit worried that the quality might have gone downhill on the Monster High dolls after I was pretty disappointed with my GB Frankie and her smudgey face with split legs (She's still beautiful though!) but I'm pleased to say that despite a bit of floppiness, Lagoona and her accessories are perfect.

Her locker has a working lock and it looks like they are stackable if you have multiples. The bottom has the MH letters debossed whereas the letters on the top are raised. I don't want to ramble on about the accessories in these pictures given how much I've rambled on above but I will say the three-eyed frog in the jar shedding a single tear is very cute!

Dear Diary: I Got to the Beach!

Dear Diary,

I finally got to the beach! I really wanted to fly my kite but it got all tangly and nearly blew me away. I think I need to work on my construction. My kite flying skills are definitely up to par so there's no way that could have been the problem!

I saw a brilliant seagull kite that fooled me into thinking it was the real thing for a moment. I definitely need to get myself one of those! I really enjoyed my day and I ate some lovely chips and treat myself to a bag of sweet, sweet, sugary candyfloss too... yuuuuum. I played on the 2p slots as well and won a small fortune and all in all, I can safely say I had the BEST DAY EVER!

Teeny Tiny Tuesday: Apple Set

This is one of my first Re-Ment sets that I bought immediately after finding out about it's existence! I loved its simple and sweet design and thought it would look brilliant in any future Re-Ment kitchen I may acquire - this dream still hasn't come true but maybe one day!

The series this sweet little set is from is known as Tea Time Collection but some people refer to it as Dreamy Tableware which is pretty charming although you will find more results on ebay if you search with the former. There is also a great pyrex set and candy coloured cameo tea set in this series.

One of the things I enjoy so much about this particular set is the the fact that the jars are transparent. They are great for showing off other miniatures you may have, such as sugar and other tiny pieces. The apple design is printed straight on to the individual pieces so no dirty sticker edges peeling off and has proved very resistant to scratches so far.

I love it!

Up Close & Personal

Mondays aren't generally considered the most exciting day of the week so here is a picture of Flossie looking her wonderful self, in the hope that it will put a smile on your face.

Here's to a great start to the week!

Dear Diary: Just Hanging Around!

Dear Diary,

Apparently we are going to get to go to the beach soon. What's all this 'soon' business?! What's the point of being this cute if people won't do exactly as I say! I am all dressed up and have my favourite kite packed too. Last time I was there it was such good kite flying weather I nearly took off into the air! I have seen some people even kiteboarding! It's bad enough that we missed Cleethorpes Kite Festival this year, I don't want to miss all the sun too!

I wonder if Big Ol' Bossypants would notice if I slipped out for two weeks...

Teeny Tiny Tuesday: Hello Kitty Stationery

It's a teeny tiny Teeny Tiny Tuesday today. I would love to build up a mini collection of Re-Ment stationery and this Hello Kitty series is the perfect place to start! If I had more money to spend on hobbies at the moment I would snap this whole set up in a heartbeat.

I have the box file and paper clip set which I got in a blind box and Parkin showed off during Parkin week and recently I got my grabby little hands on the sellotape and glue set. It is completely charming and the print quality on the pieces is fantastic. The sellotape has a cute Hello Kitty design and slots into the holder so it can spin around. It has a really authentic transparent look. The glue is equally cute and even has a bubble inside that just makes it seem so much more realistic.

I can't wait to set up a diorama with my new stationery!

Dear Diary: I'm Not a Quitter!

Dear Diary,

MI-5 turned me down flat. Can you bloomin' believe it!? They've missed a trick there, mate. Anyway, I'm Parkin, Parkin Parkin and I will not be deterred. I may have sulked for, like, a single day... or three but I'm in training now. They'll be knocking my door down begging for me to join 'em any day now.

There is just one small problem. I may need the help of Big Ol' Bossypants to, ahem, sew my crotch back up after I high kicked a little too high. It was a bit of a shock feeling the breeze down there I can tell you although it did solve the serious camel toe problem I was having at the time. Oh diary, I know it's not appropriate but every cloud has a silver lining.

Middie Blythe Milk & Honey

The official pictures of the new Middie Blythe were released yesterday and since I saw them I've been thinking about the Middie releases so far. All in all I think this is only the fourth Middie release and I'm a bit bored already if truth be told. Love & More still has my Christmas wishes and don't get me wrong, this little girl is cute but why all the natural hair colours? You can't please everyone all of the time but I do really and truly love her eye colour. I hope they make chips in this gorgeous lavender for Neo Blythe soon (if they already have, please tell me which Blythe!).

I suppose you can tell, I'm hankering after a fantasy haired Middie. Due to their pocket-sized nature I can't help but picture my dream Middie as having pretty pastel make-up and complementary pastel hair. Or something totally rocking at odds with their sweet little faces. My imagination doesn't really stretch to their outfits but given that there aren't many clothes available for them at the moment, something practical like the Raspberry Sorbet stock would be nice. My ultimate dream would be if they made a Middie with similar coloured hair to Flossie, my Sugarless Gum reroot. A lovely pale mint colour would be a must have too. Maybe next time!

Teeny Tiny Tuesday: Dumplings

This is another set I picked up in a blind box and have steadily grown to appreciate. It is another set from Is Dinner Ready? (Kid Robot had them for sale in their London shop at the time and I can't resist Re-Ment in person!) and has lots of cute details. I turned the dumplings over on the plate so you can see how they are 'cooked' on the bottom! Totally brilliant. I also love how the caps come off the two glass sauce bottles on the left. Well, it's great for pictures but not so great if you don't like the thought of losing any of your beloved Re-Ment. You can also see that there is a little bowl of dipping sauce with a matching design to the plate and a tiny bottle of sauce that explains how it got there. Lovely touch.

I really like the red enamelled pan with the glass lid too. I only have one other frying pan from an unknown set and this is nicer :) The pan has a silver bottom with the typical circle design. My brain isn't working well enough to describe it beyond that! The jug with the water pouring out of it is pretty good and I do like these kind of items when I have a doll to pose with it - otherwise it looks a bit creepy unless you crop the handle out of the picture. It can be dismantled though so you don't have to include the water in pics if you don't want to. The spatula seems a little mismatched but it seems to make the set seem more realistic to me. I know I have barely anything that matches in my kitchen!

Is there any Re-Ment set I don't like?!

White Rabbits

When Flossie woke up this morning, after rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she remembered to say "white rabbits" three times for luck.

I can't believe it's August already! I had so many grand plans for this year and only now am I starting to achieve them. Better late than never though, as they say! This month I'm off to visit my mum by the seaside for a little bit. I am beyond excited about it and hope to take lots of pretty pics of Parkin on the beach and learn some new crochet stitches in between visiting my sister at the cute little shop she works in. I have to wait a little longer for all that fun though. I've noticed the closer it gets the more excruciating the wait is. I haven't had this feeling for a long time but it's quite nice in its own little way, as I'm sure you have all experienced this at some point :)

Have an excellent and lucky month everyone!
